Center For Family Services

Center For Family Services provides programs, including community outreach, school based and after school programs, substance abuse and intensive home based treatment programs, individual and family counseling, case management, foster care, and emergency shelters and residential facilities

By providing the funds for PCs which the center does not have today, the NJSIM Foundation grant will allow mothers living at facility to access the information about services available which will assist them to become self sufficient. PCs will support their housing and job search, resume writing, and research of program offerings.

Community Food Bank of New Jersey

The Community FoodBank of New Jersey distributes meals and groceries to the poor and low-income in the state. Food is distributed through the FoodBank’s own programs and through more than 1,000 member charities, including soup kitchens, food pantries, homeless and women’s shelters.

Field staff supporting the FoodBank’s programs will utilize laptop computers & tablets provided by the NJSIM Foundation grant to access the FoodBank’s databases remotely, file applications, and to keep records on clients and deliveries.

The Giving Hope Network

The Giving Hope Network strives to develop shared solutions for large, complex societal challenges by inspiring and mobilizing a passionate and capable community committed to making a big difference in people’s lives.

In 2012, GHN made a commitment to change the lives of 10,000 individuals impacted by autism. To do this GHN launched a program, “Giving a Voice to the Voiceless”. This program will provide children with autism access to iPad’s and, specialized software that will enable a child with autism the ability to 30 iPad kits, 3 power sync trays, mini mac, Apple® store cards

The NJSIM Foundation grant will help expand the Hear Me Now program by allowing the enrollment of new schools, and empowering additional students with iPads and other technology to better communicate and participate in the classroom & with their families and peers.

Jersey Explorer Children’s Museum

Jersey Explorer Children’s Museum provides educational enrichment to the thousands of underprivileged children who visit the museum as well as academic, vocational opportunities to at-risk young adults from NJ Youth Corps who build exhibits and staff the museum

The NJSIM Foundation grant will allow the museum to upgrade an existing Exploration Stations from a computer projection station in a multi-purpose room with several discovery trunks to a fully themed environment with technology & equipment, scenery, signage, and lighting.

The Market Street Mission

The Market Street Mission ministers to the needy people in Northern New Jersey. The organization meets their physical needs with food, shelter, clothing, and other necessities, and their emotional and spiritual needs with guidance and life change programs.

The NJSIM Foundation grant will assist in completely updating the Market Street Mission education / training facility with 20 new PC’s. Residents in the rehab program are enrolled in yearlong educational programs aligned with their needs to meet educational requirements & job skills development.

Newark Boys Chorus School

The Newark Boys Chorus School (NBCS) provides a rigorous academic and musical education to disadvantaged young men from the greater Newark area in grades five through eight.

Through their NJSIM Foundation grant, NBCS will purchase tablets for students (25), and utilize them during the school day as part of a WiFi distributed network at the school, for both teacher-centered classroom activities using a white projection board and student-centered activities inside/outside the classroom and at home.
