Women Rising

Women Rising was established as a YWCA in 1905 by a group of 168 women who worked at Colgate and Company. Over the last 111 years, times have changed, but the top priority remains the same, serving low-income and homeless women and children. Women Rising is a non-profit organization that takes a holistic approach to serving women and families in Hudson County. Programming ranges from domestic violence counseling and a shelter to job training and housing assistance.

The Foundation supplied funding for iPads and emergency hardware supporting job training programs to teach individuals how to use new devices so that when they go out into the workplace, they are up-to-date on the various forms of technology

Mercer Center

Launched in 1997, the Sisters Academy of New Jersey is the only independent middle school for girls in New Jersey.  The goal of Sisters Academy of New Jersey isto help at-risk girls, ages 10-13, escape the chronic inter-generational cycle of poverty endemic to Asbury Park by giving them the education, life skills and character development they need to enter competitive high schools and colleges, and launch successful professional careers.

Foundation funding will allow the Mercer Center to purchase laptops, software and maintenance package to help at-risk girls, escape the chronic inter-generational cycle of poverty endemic to Asbury Park by giving them the education, life skills and character development they need to enter competitive high schools and colleges, and launch successful professional careers.
