WomenRising is the foremost community-based organization for women in Hudson County. WomenRising assists women and their families to achieve self-sufficiency and live safe, productive and fulfilling lives, through social services, economic development, and advocacy services.
Those they serve are in need – in need of jobs, safety from domestic violence, freedom from substance abuse, safe homes for children. WomenRising meets these needs by providing supportive counseling, crisis intervention, workforce development and job placement, shelter for victims of domestic violence, outreach, advocacy, and referrals.
A Foundation grant will equip one job training room with a TV for presentations as well as a computer equipped with InDesign and Photoshop allowing the Director of Communications to provide clients with hands-on training in graphic design.
Foundation for Morristown Medical Center
Not-for-profit hospitals depend on philanthropy to fund infrastructure improvements, emerging technologies and the medical expertise needed to meet the demand for their services. The Foundation of Morristown Medical Center promotes such philanthropy to preserve and expand programs and services in patient care, clinical research, medical and public health education, and preventive medicine. Their efforts help to ensure that all patients get the care they deserve, the kind of care we want for our own families.
The NJSIM Foundation grant will provide 8 iPads
- 4 for the children’s clinic to provide bi-lingual nutritional information, behavior modification techniques, games designed to promote health literacy;
- 4 for the adult clinic to provide bi-lingual information inherent to their medical condition, medicinal information on adherence to use, nutrition planning, promoting self management of medical conditions.
