Pam joined Cisco from Anthem\, Inc. (currently Elevance Health) where she held the Deputy Chief Information Security Officer role. While at Anthem\, she was considered a bold and strategic thinker who envisioned and delivered a world-class Enterprise Information Security strategy\, including the Steering Committee with cross-functional business and technology membership. Pam was also a key advisor to the litigation process and full program development during and after an unprecedented cyber-attack. We will discuss how proper Risk Management reduces cybersecurity costs while improving our security posture. \nMetrics That Matter is an organization that helps its clients effectively manage operations and cyber risk. It provides Risk Managers and Security Executives with the appropriate context and clarification on where to spend their security budget. They do this through identification and classification of pivotal assets\, resources\, and systems within the corporation. \nThe team at Metrics That Matters leverages a formulaic approach to compute inherent risk for Risk Managers and Security Executives. They do this by multiplying the respective impact and likelihood scores utilizing the “Power of Machine Learning” that evaluates the conceivable ramifications (be it financial\, operational\, or reputational) following a successful assault on each asset. \nMetrics That Matters has the ability to continuously recalibrate risk calculations by evaluating the residual risk post the assimilation of security controls grounded in industry benchmarks which include NIST\, MITRE ATT&CK\, and HIPAA. This is accomplished by mapping cyber products\, policies\, and processes to pertinent security controls. Thus\, understanding\, addressing\, and managing that risk needs to be a top priority – to protect company information\, assets\, technology\, systems\, and networks. \nMost federal\, state\, and local law enforcement agencies and regulators are now hyper-focused on Information Security — not just on apprehending cybercriminals and reactively addressing cybercrime after it occurs; but also\, proactively preventing it. \nToday\, most enforcement and regulatory agencies expect businesses to have robust cybersecurity compliance programs built around identifying and managing their most significant cyber risks. Many also require companies to have robust risk-based information security programs\, as pre-requisites to conducting business. This also extends to third-party contractors and business partners who are now expected and contractually required to have robust risk-based information security compliance programs. \nThe best way to prevent this Parade of Horribles is for IT and Risk Management/Compliance/Legal to work together in a collaborative partnership – transcending traditional corporate silos and assumptions regarding what IT\, Compliance\, Legal\, and Risk Management are “supposed” to do. \nOn Octobert 12 2023\, Alexandra Rebay\, former Global Chief Compliance Officer for Verizon Communications will lead a discussion on how to form this collaborative partnership. When done right\, effective proactive information security compliance and risk management can be leveraged as a competitive advantage. \n  \nAbout Our Presenter: \nAlexandra Rebay was the Senior Vice President\, Deputy General Counsel\, and Global Chief Compliance Officer for Verizon Communications\, and also held a variety of other senior executive leadership roles at Verizon and its predecessor company\, GTE Corporation\, over almost 30 years. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and an MBA\, both from Rutgers University\, as well as a Graduate Marketing Certificate from the SMU Cox School of Business in Dallas\, Texas. He is a Certified Blockchain Professional™ who has studied Bitcoin in depth and is the Founder of the NJ Blockchain Center. Mr. Medlin is an educator\, published author\, speaker\, and consultant. He teaches Blockchain\, Bitcoin\, & Cryptocurrency at Columbia University and County College of Morris.  \nDr. W.
