We will discuss how proper Risk Management reduces cybersecurity costs while improving our security posture. \nMetrics That Matter is an organization that helps its clients effectively manage operations and cyber risk. It provides Risk Managers and Security Executives with the appropriate context and clarification on where to spend their security budget. They do this through identification and classification of pivotal assets\, resources\, and systems within the corporation. \nThe team at Metrics That Matters leverages a formulaic approach to compute inherent risk for Risk Managers and Security Executives. They do this by multiplying the respective impact and likelihood scores utilizing the “Power of Machine Learning” that evaluates the conceivable ramifications (be it financial\, operational\, or reputational) following a successful assault on each asset. \nMetrics That Matters has the ability to continuously recalibrate risk calculations by evaluating the residual risk post the assimilation of security controls grounded in industry benchmarks which include NIST\, MITRE ATT&CK\, and HIPAA. This is accomplished by mapping cyber products\, policies\, and processes to pertinent security controls. A tremendous “Value Add” that they offer is that their solution allows Risk Managers and Security Executives to model out current state and future state residual risk models based on increasing maturity of cyber solution effectiveness and adoption of new cyber risk solutions. \nThe discussion will be led by Larry Pfeifer\, President of Consortium Networks\, and Pat Dillon\, Vice President of Locton Companies.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner column_margin=”default” column_direction=”default” column_direction_tablet=”default” column_direction_phone=”default” text_align=”left”][vc_column_inner column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_tablet=”inherit” column_padding_phone=”inherit” column_padding_position=”all” column_element_spacing=”default” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” column_border_radius=”none” column_link_target=”_self” gradient_direction=”left_to_right” overlay_strength=”0.3″ width=”1/1″ tablet_width_inherit=”default” bg_image_animation=”none” border_type=”simple” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” column_margin=”default” column_direction=”default” column_direction_tablet=”default” column_direction_phone=”default” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” row_border_radius=”none” row_border_radius_applies=”bg” overlay_strength=”0.3″ gradient_direction=”left_to_right” shape_divider_position=”bottom” bg_image_animation=”none”][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_tablet=”inherit” column_padding_phone=”inherit” column_padding_position=”all” column_element_spacing=”default” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” column_border_radius=”none” column_link_target=”_self” gradient_direction=”left_to_right” overlay_strength=”0.3″ width=”1/1″ tablet_width_inherit=”default” tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” bg_image_animation=”none” border_type=”simple” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][vc_column_text][/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” column_margin=”default” column_direction=”default” column_direction_tablet=”default” column_direction_phone=”default” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” row_border_radius=”none” row_border_radius_applies=”bg” overlay_strength=”0.3″ gradient_direction=”left_to_right” shape_divider_position=”bottom” bg_image_animation=”none”][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_tablet=”inherit” column_padding_phone=”inherit” column_padding_position=”all” column_element_spacing=”default” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” column_border_radius=”none” column_link_target=”_self” gradient_direction=”left_to_right” overlay_strength=”0.3″ width=”1/1″ tablet_width_inherit=”default” tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” bg_image_animation=”none” border_type=”simple” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][vc_column_text][/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Register for this complimentary midday event below.  (Alternatively\, you may email your reservation to Karen Kostulas.  Include your full name\, professional title\, and company email address in the message.)[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

Thus\, understanding\, addressing\, and managing that risk needs to be a top priority – to protect company information\, assets\, technology\, systems\, and networks. \nMost federal\, state\, and local law enforcement agencies and regulators are now hyper-focused on Information Security — not just on apprehending cybercriminals and reactively addressing cybercrime after it occurs; but also\, proactively preventing it. \nToday\, most enforcement and regulatory agencies expect businesses to have robust cybersecurity compliance programs built around identifying and managing their most significant cyber risks. Many also require companies to have robust risk-based information security programs\, as pre-requisites to conducting business. This also extends to third-party contractors and business partners who are now expected and contractually required to have robust risk-based information security compliance programs. \nThe best way to prevent this Parade of Horribles is for IT and Risk Management/Compliance/Legal to work together in a collaborative partnership – transcending traditional corporate silos and assumptions regarding what IT\, Compliance\, Legal\, and Risk Management are “supposed” to do. \nOn Octobert 12 2023\, Alexandra Rebay\, former Global Chief Compliance Officer for Verizon Communications will lead a discussion on how to form this collaborative partnership. When done right\, effective proactive information security compliance and risk management can be leveraged as a competitive advantage. \n  \nAbout Our Presenter: \nAlexandra Rebay was the Senior Vice President\, Deputy General Counsel\, and Global Chief Compliance Officer for Verizon Communications\, and also held a variety of other senior executive leadership roles at Verizon and its predecessor company\, GTE Corporation\, over almost 30 years. Since retiring from Verizon on the eve of the COVID-19 pandemic\, Ms. Rebay has brought her expertise in compliance\, risk management\, litigation\, and crisis management to the not-for-profit arena\, guiding the Greater Somerset County YMCA\, whose Board Audit & Risk Management Committee she chairs\, through the myriad novel operational issues – including cybersecurity challenges – presented by the global pandemic and its aftermath. \nBefore her career in the private sector\, Ms. Rebay served as an Assistant United States Attorney in the Southern District of New York\, prosecuting computer crime\, securities fraud\, corruption\, narcotics\, and terrorism cases.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_tablet=”inherit” column_padding_phone=”inherit” column_padding_position=”all” column_element_spacing=”default” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” column_border_radius=”none” column_link_target=”_self” gradient_direction=”left_to_right” overlay_strength=”0.3″ width=”1/2″ tablet_width_inherit=”default” bg_image_animation=”none” border_type=”simple” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][image_with_animation image_url=”10470″ animation=”Fade In” hover_animation=”none” alignment=”” border_radius=”none” box_shadow=”none” image_loading=”default” max_width=”100%” max_width_mobile=”default”][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” column_margin=”default” column_direction=”default” column_direction_tablet=”default” column_direction_phone=”default” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” row_border_radius=”none” row_border_radius_applies=”bg” overlay_strength=”0.3″ gradient_direction=”left_to_right” shape_divider_position=”bottom” bg_image_animation=”none”][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_tablet=”inherit” column_padding_phone=”inherit” column_padding_position=”all” column_element_spacing=”default” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” column_border_radius=”none” column_link_target=”_self” gradient_direction=”left_to_right” overlay_strength=”0.3″ width=”1/1″ tablet_width_inherit=”default” tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” bg_image_animation=”none” border_type=”simple” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][vc_custom_heading text=”Agenda” font_container=”tag:h2|text_align:left|color:%23005b94″ use_theme_fonts=”yes”][vc_column_text]5:30     Registration and Networking\n6:15     Dinner\n6:45     SIM NJ Updates\n7:00     Featured Presentation/Discussion\n8:00     More Networking\n8:30:    In-person Members In Transition (M.I.T.) Do you practice your incident response plan? These two questions have started showing up on insurance questionnaires recently and with good reason. Having a well thought out plan with enough detail to practice it in advance of an incident lowers the overall cost of an incident by minimizing operational impact and speeding recovery. In this round table discussion\, we’ll cover what differentiates an effective incident response plan from one made to put a check mark in a box. We’ll discuss how the NIST 800-61 can help you assess your current plan or create a new one. \nGideon Lenkey from RA Security Systems will lead an Incident Response Plan Online Round Table Discussion.  You will receive the videoconference link when you register. \nGideon’s Bio: \nWith nearly twenty years of experience in information security consulting\, Gideon Lenkey specializes in IT infrastructure testing and cybersecurity management. He has provided the FBI with advanced training and has served as a consultant for both foreign and domestic government agencies. The former president of FBI’s InfraGuard program in New Jersey\, Gideon has been recognized by former FBI Director Robert Mueller for his accomplishments. Men who have encouraged us\, mentored or sponsored us\, given us good advice\, and maybe even “looked out” for us when in a crowd of men from a corporate culture we didn’t agree with. Eva has spent enough time speaking to men about how they support women on their team and in their organizations to know that there are still many men who are unsure of where to start and how to support women and their advancement. Regardless of the reason behind these men’s insecurities or concerns\, and how their actions and words make us (as women or underrepresented) feel\, Eva has chosen to meet them where they are\, and invite them to take their first steps to becoming allies. For those who are comfortable as allies\, she offers ideas of how they can further improve as advocates of women\, and as role models to other men. She will be sharing her research\, findings\, and methodology with you\, and will talk about how we can identify allies and advocates at work\, and discuss what we can do when we come across the men who are more difficult to deal with. \nEva is always looking for new ways to invite men to the conversation\, to share positive stories and examples of how they are already supporting women\, and making more of them comfortable doing so. There is no judgement\, shame or blame in her approach. Everyone has their own experiences and connections\, and you are all gateways to one or more men at work. Reaching equality and inclusion at work is not women’s or underrepresented groups’ responsibility alone\, nor is it HR’s or the Chief Diversity Officer’s\, but everyone’s. Getting everyone to understand how and what a difference they can make for one or more women and for the culture in their part of the organization is key to success. \n \nEva Helén is the founder and CEO of EQ Inspiration. Engaging men in the conversation of gender equality and women’s advancement. She’s the author of “Women in Tech\, a Book for Guys.” Eva is on Vasion’s Board of Directors. A successful entrepreneur\, in 2000 Eva co-founded and ran Sanbolic\, an enterprise software company\, acquired by Citrix in 2015. Prior\, Eva co-founded Number One GM\, acquired by Autodesk in 1999. Eva was born in Sweden and holds an MBA from the University of Stockholm. She relocated to Silicon Valley in the mid-’90s. As a speaker\, coach\, and mentor to men and women in tech\, Eva stresses the importance of individual contribution to build a culture of inclusion and success. \n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” column_margin=”default” column_direction=”default” column_direction_tablet=”default” column_direction_phone=”default” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” row_border_radius=”none” row_border_radius_applies=”bg” overlay_strength=”0.3″ gradient_direction=”left_to_right” shape_divider_position=”bottom” bg_image_animation=”none”][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_tablet=”inherit” column_padding_phone=”inherit” column_padding_position=”all” column_element_spacing=”default” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” column_border_radius=”none” column_link_target=”_self” gradient_direction=”left_to_right” overlay_strength=”0.3″ width=”1/1″ tablet_width_inherit=”default” tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” bg_image_animation=”none” border_type=”simple” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][vc_custom_heading text=”Registration” font_container=”tag:h2|text_align:left|color:%23005b94″ use_theme_fonts=”yes”][vc_column_text]Please Register here! Once you register\, you will receive the webinar access information directly from Zoom. [/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” column_margin=”default” column_direction=”default” column_direction_tablet=”default” column_direction_phone=”default” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” row_border_radius=”none” row_border_radius_applies=”bg” overlay_strength=”0.3″ gradient_direction=”left_to_right” shape_divider_position=”bottom” bg_image_animation=”none”][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_tablet=”inherit” column_padding_phone=”inherit” column_padding_position=”all” column_element_spacing=”default” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” column_border_radius=”none” column_link_target=”_self” gradient_direction=”left_to_right” overlay_strength=”0.3″ width=”1/1″ tablet_width_inherit=”default” tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” bg_image_animation=”none” border_type=”simple” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][vc_custom_heading text=”Cost: Free to NJ SIM Members!” font_container=”tag:h2|text_align:left|color:%23005b94″ use_theme_fonts=”yes”][/vc_column][/vc_row]

Innovation Storytellers\, first mastered \nthe art of storytelling when she was working as an international aid officer in rural Thailand in the 1990s\, helping to slow the spread of HIV by turning sex workers into entrepreneurs. \nUsing persuasion\, proof\, and the promise of a better future\, she went on to teach hundreds of startups how to use stories to make the case for their disruptive business models and get investors and customers onboard. \nToday\, Susan works in Fortune 500 boardrooms around the world\, helping global innovation leaders craft stories that bring their teams together around Breakthrough ideas.  She has worked with C-level leaders and teams from over 60 countries at Fortune 100 companies like GE\, Corning\, Citi\, AT&T\, Arm & Hammer on their innovation storytelling strategies.  The result?  Those innovation leaders become incredible storytellers who go on to change the world. \nUsing a practical and repeatable framework\, shared with humor and empathy\, Susan helps audiences be more intentional about the stories they share at every level to make their innovations easier to understand\, easier to champion\, and easier to bring to life. \nSusan’s award-winning strategies have led to 10 company acquisitions.  She is also the winner of the 3 Golden Bridge Awards in Communications\, has been ranked among the “Top 25 Women to Watch in Unfortunately\, tools and processes dominate most related conferences and local user group meetings. During the hour\, David Moskowitz will discuss the need to take a whole systems view of DevOps that combines strategy and risk into a single entity — Strategy-Risk\, which serves as the basis to create and deliver digital business value. This idea represents a potentially different mindset with a corresponding cultural shift. \nJoin your peers to gain new perspectives\, share experiences\, and collaborate on real-life solutions to your most pressing problems. Come away with actionable insights and build a strong professional network as you engage with old friends and make new connections at our In Person meeting on April 14th at The Madison Hotel.  Networking starts at 5:30pm.  The presentation will also be hosted on Zoom starting at 6:30pm \n  \nAbout the Speaker\nDavid Moskowitz started his formal career as an operating systems programmer and systems architect\, which required that he look at the code he had written and how the resulting operating system might impact the business/research applications on the computer. Later\, while serving in the US Army\, he was tasked to apply that approach to looking at different forms of systems and complexity regarding where and how US Forces were engaged. This required working within the integration of the staff functions (personnel\, intelligence\, operations\, logistics\, and later civilian-military operations & planning). \nAfter his military service\, he continued to apply a systems approach to his job. In 1979\, he worked on an anti-submarine warfare program for a DoD prime contractor\, where he assumed responsibility for an aspect of the effort that was more than 18-months behind schedule and still slipping. Applying a whole systems approach\, he addressed the organizational and inter-personal cultural issues to create a high-performing team that completed the effort in 9-months. That required developing a more formalized approach to managing changes\, development\, testing\, release & deployment combined with short iterations and constant feedback that would be recognizable today as aspects of ITIL. Working with small increments of functionality and in short intervals\, the team used a wall full of corkboards\, 4×6 cards\, and thumbtacks so that\, at a glance\, everyone could review and understand the status of every aspect of the team’s efforts (similar to Kanban\, today). \nLater as a consultant\, he worked to assist organizations in adopting what they considered to be technical disruptions (including object-oriented programming\, grid\, agile\, mobile\, cloud\, and DevOps). He applied a critical lesson learned from experience: “Every problem he’d help resolve was\, at its core\, a people problem\, not a technology problem.” Technology was either an enabler or an inhibitor. The recurring mantra of these efforts was\, “Solve the problem; don’t treat the symptom.”[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” column_margin=”default” column_direction=”default” column_direction_tablet=”default” column_direction_phone=”default” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” row_border_radius=”none” row_border_radius_applies=”bg” overlay_strength=”0.3″ gradient_direction=”left_to_right” shape_divider_position=”bottom” bg_image_animation=”none”][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_tablet=”inherit” column_padding_phone=”inherit” column_padding_position=”all” column_element_spacing=”default” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” column_border_radius=”none” column_link_target=”_self” gradient_direction=”left_to_right” overlay_strength=”0.3″ width=”1/1″ tablet_width_inherit=”default” tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” bg_image_animation=”none” border_type=”simple” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][vc_custom_heading text=”Agenda” font_container=”tag:h2|text_align:left|color:%23005b94″ use_theme_fonts=”yes”][vc_column_text]5:30     Registration and Networking\n6:15     Dinner\n6:30     Zoom Meeting Starts\n6:45     Business Meeting\n7:00     Presentation and Q&A\n8:00     Networking[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” column_margin=”default” column_direction=”default” column_direction_tablet=”default” column_direction_phone=”default” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” row_border_radius=”none” row_border_radius_applies=”bg” overlay_strength=”0.3″ gradient_direction=”left_to_right” shape_divider_position=”bottom” bg_image_animation=”none”][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_tablet=”inherit” column_padding_phone=”inherit” column_padding_position=”all” column_element_spacing=”default” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” column_border_radius=”none” column_link_target=”_self” gradient_direction=”left_to_right” overlay_strength=”0.3″ width=”1/1″ tablet_width_inherit=”default” tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” bg_image_animation=”none” border_type=”simple” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][vc_custom_heading text=”Cost” font_container=”tag:h2|text_align:left|color:%23005b94″ use_theme_fonts=”yes”][vc_column_text]Please register for the event below. \nSIM NJ Members $80.00\, MIT $40.00\, non-member guests $110.00.
