One could argue that the paradigm of “how we work,” one of the vestiges of the Industrial Era, has no doubt shifted. Technology, culture, and now the pandemic have not only allowed the acceptance of remote work, but it has also made it ubiquitous. Some paradigms die hard. Before the pandemic, many organizations, while having the technology to work remote, lacked the culture. Hopefully soon, we will have the ability to “Return to the Office” (RTO). Is this necessary? What does that look like? Is it a “blended” or “hybrid” approach to work? And with new found work flexibility, has the concept of “work/life balance” also gone the way of the pre-Digital Era? In short, what does RTO look like?
At our next roundtable, Dr, Frank Granito will lead a discussion on Return To Work that will inform his research project on the subject.
